Trailer Parts

It may be the traction unit that does all the hauling but it’s the trailer that endures the constant punishment of carrying goods.

It may be the traction unit that does all the hauling but it’s the trailer that endures the constant punishment of carrying goods.

If looked after properly, a trailer can last twenty years or more, and if purchased after 5 years it could cost just half what it did when new but still have another 15 years of productive life left in it.

However, the sheer size and weight of trailers means if an essential part breaks down, it can make them difficult to control, leading to accidents, many of which become the essence of programmes on the TV.

Faulty or even partially worn parts can lead to very expensive repairs, and when this results in an accident, it is even possible an insurance company will not pay for repairs and damages if it is found the fleet owner was at fault.

So, preventative maintenance must be carried out regularly; particularly if you wish to keep your trailer on the road as ‘down time’ can be expensive when a trailer isn’t able to be used.

This is what Road Transport have to say:

‘The law is quite clear that responsibility for the roadworthiness of vehicles and trailers lies with the operator. This remains the case even when maintenance is contracted out to a third party and for leased or hired vehicles and trailers.’

The parts listed below are merely popular parts stocked by Allspares and do not represent the entire range we have either available, or have access to.  If you are searching for a particular trailer part and are having difficulty finding it then please feel free to use out ‘Trailer Parts Enquiry Form’.
